Christina Chang: The Art of Light and Motion – An Artist’s Journey

I am thrilled to announce that I will be the featured artist at Galaray House in April 2025. It’s an exciting opportunity to share my newest work with all of you, and I’m honored to be part of this exhibition.

The Art of Light and Motion will showcase my latest collection of bold, colorful abstract paintings and landscapes. Through these pieces, I invite you to experience the dynamic energy, movement, and emotion that define my artistic process. My work explores how light and saturated colors can evoke deep emotions, drawing inspiration from both personal experiences and cultural influences.

Artist Reception on First Friday, April 4, 2025
If you’re in the Boston area, I would love for you to join me at the Artist Reception on First Friday, April 4, 2025, from 6:00–8:00 PM at Galaray House. This event will be an incredible opportunity to meet in person, view my latest collection, and dive deeper into the inspiration behind each piece.

The Evolution of My Art
As a Chinese-Italian American artist based in Boston, my art reflects my multicultural heritage and life experiences. My father, an architect from Shanghai, instilled in me an appreciation for spatial design, while my mother, an interior designer and artist, helped me develop a keen eye for form and detail. These influences have played a significant role in shaping my artistic voice.

I began my formal art training at age 13 and went on to earn my BFA from Texas Christian University, where I received the Nordon Fine Art Scholarship. Later, I earned my master’s degree at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), with a formative study period in Florence, Italy, that further enriched my creative journey. These experiences have all contributed to my ability to push the boundaries of traditional art, creating immersive spaces of color, light, and motion.

A Passion for Teaching
Alongside my studio practice, I am deeply passionate about sharing my knowledge and experiences with others. I teach high school students and lead weekend workshops and artist retreats to help others discover and develop their artistic voice. Additionally, I offer private lessons and coaching to artists who are looking to grow and take their creative practice to the next level.

If you’re interested in exploring my work or learning more about the intersection of energy, movement, and color, I hope to see you at the opening reception or throughout the month of April at Galaray House.
